Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

This photo came in the other day from one of my favs...but really how am I going to get that promotion to VP of Public Relations?
Don'tcha remember I got cited for excessive sleeping on the job.
Just sayin' work with me!

What's Missing -or- Where's Tag?

Notice anything missing from these pictures?

Yup, the guys left me at home to make sure the cat did not get into mischief.  I think the guys went to someplace called Afton.  I would have like to run around on the beach.

Final Friday

Him was a bit worn out after a full week but I was able to drag Him over to Gallery XII to take a look at Bob Benson's photographic work and Wint Harris' glass work. Both are very talented in their respective disciplines (and Wint is from the same small western town that Him grew up in...also while we were there I had to take another look at Melinda Weis fantastic work... pears aren't bacon but they sure looked good enough to eat.

Back in Vintera gallery I really enjoyed a series of cat paintings this one titled:

Amish Cats

StopLight Gallery Premier

Well Him and our friend Lee Shiney came up with an idea about having a gallery on the corner of Douglas and Topeka that is our main display window at Lawrence Photo.  This gallery initially was conceived as the "Drive By" Gallery but that name was nixed because of the less than friendly implications.  Him and Lee joked around about calling the "RedLight Gallery but for obvious reasons decided StopLight Gallery was more family oriented.

Below is the announcement Lee sent out about the new gallery space earlier today.  Him will get around to something official in the next day or so.

January: Wow. Big. Ups and downs.
Working backwards-Final Friday: Today is Final Friday in Wichita, and I have brand new work in a brand new gallery. This giant untitled piece (shown here under construction) is 6 x 10 feet, latex paint on unprimed, unframed canvas. And it's showing in a fun, new little gallery space that is actually part of Lawrence Photo at 401 E Douglas. Even more fun is that this gallery is "open" 24 hours a day, because it's viewable only from outdoors. So as you are cruising through the stoplight at Douglas and Topeka, look to the southeast corner. It's the Stoplight Gallery.

Last week; down: A major server issue took out my website. It's still gone, so don't bother looking yet. I'm trying to treat this as an opportunity, rather than a catastrophe.

Last week; up: But I did finish two collaborative works for the Art for Arthritis benefit coming up in March. You'll get a sneak peek when they go on display for Final Friday in February.

Drive by!

Choo ... Choo!

Most everyone knows I like trains ... wouldn't it be cool if we had something like this here that would encourage the public to once again ecologically travel by rail?

Public Relations Manager!

Him finally got me some business cards ordered.  Was hoping that my title would get changed to VP of Public Relations but Him said I've been sleeping on the job a little excessively and although that was a possiblity in the future, for now Public Relations Manager would have to suffice.

It's going to be a week or so before my cards arrive and a couple days to get the new email set up but please stop by and I'll do my best to spread the public relations joy!

Ride About to Twin Peaks

 I had a sticker.

Ryans Honda CB500Four

After a quick pit stop.

Parked at Twin Peaks

I get my own stool.

I do like the ladies...and they do like me!

Brianna & Alex
Not sure why they call the place Twin Peaks ...

Brianna

What a smile!

Sunday started out pretty warm and Him put a windshield on his bike that Ryan was no longer using on his classic CB500 Four.  I don't mind wearing the goggles but I really do like riding a bike with a windshied especially at higher speeds.  Prior to the windshield being installed the wind noise hurt my ears and not to mention causing them to flap about like mad.  With the new windshield I like going fast now and am much more comfortable.
It was my first time to go to Twin Peaks sports bar on 21st and Rock Road and the first time him had ridden his motorbike in that kind of traffic.  We both did great I might add.  Although the patio was closed but we sat out there anyway hoping not to get kicked out and the plan was that I would lay low.   Well as soon as the waitresses saw me they made me feel downright welcome with a great big warm hug.  Not sure why they call the place Twin Peaks I did not see any ski theme there at all and the girls sure were not dressed  for January skiing.  But the sure did have some good chicken and I do like chicken!

Monday Morning WingManHD Still Shots

Dry Fountain In Winter

Small Zoo

Rocket Ship

On the way to work on Monday morning, stopped by Central Riverside Park and took a quick walk around the park...see the geese?  Him would not let me chase them.  These were shot with the new WingMan HD camera.  The files have been reduced in resolution for posting purposes however no croping, corrections or enhancements have been made to the orignal files.  All hand held.

Sunday's Ride WingManHD

So Sunday a small group got together for a bit of ride and a test of the WingMan HD camera.  These were the still shots from it with the later ones shot with the camera mounted to the motor bike's handle bars.  No enhancement, cropping or manipulation has be utilized other than the file's resolution has been lowered for posting purposes.  Video examples to follow.

Cats can be so weird.

After the Ride

Resting after a ride.

On the lookout for what might be seen below.

Sunday was a great day to get out and ride around on motor bikes.  It was a little windy and Him is not that experienced in riding/driving in a high wind scenario so we rode south to Watson Park and got to see a way cool Norton bike (no pic sorry) and the I got to go play with a really big girl dog (and she was a whole lot of red head .... golden retriever).

Hopefully we will get some still shots and video posted from the new Delkin WingmanHD camera that Him mounted to the handlebars of the bike.  (The images above were shot with it however.) Unfortunately there will not be any video of the ride back from Watson Park cause all the guys got in a big hurry posturing for lead and we did not get the camera mounted back onto it's mount with Him having to put on his helmet, my goggles, strap me down in my harness, get the bike started well you get the idea...
....we got left behind.
