Better Watch Out!

I was on a walk the other night and Him snapped this photo of the weather vane against the sunset with a tiny sliver of moon showing.

Better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why...
Santa Clause is coming to town!

Weight Loss Incentive

I saw these refrigerators that were from a "Scary" art show and think that Jenny Craig and other diet gurus might want to incorporate these into their programs...after all "I don't need ice cream that bad...I ain't going no where near that refrigerator!"

Tank "Turned" Art

Sunday mornings are our day to sleep an hour later and get up, watch CBS Sunday Morning and let him drink coffee.  This last Sunday there was a segment on the Biennale in Venice.  This tank turned over caught Him's attention at the US Pavillion.  Take a look.

Here is a link to the CBS Sunday Morning Story Treadmill Powered Tank. Here is an article from The Guardian Guardian's Tank Article.

Black Friday

Well it is that time of year again and we are gearing up for the holiday shoppers down here at Lawrence Photo.

Him joked about opening up at noon on Thanksgiving Day to get a jump on all the ridiculousness of the retailers who think that they will sell more stuff to an over consumption society by opening at 4:00 a.m or midnight or 9:00 p.m. of what is supposed to be a holiday by itself.

Turkey Turkey! Pig Pig

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day and got to spend it with loved ones or at least tolerated friends and family.  I had a great day hanging out with Him who cooked up a storm in the kitchen and then shared some of the feast with me.

Later in the day we went for a bike ride and stopped by and saw some good friends and I got some special lap time!

It is time to get your holiday cards ordered  so you can get them into the mail.  Don't do like Him does and get them printed but forget to mail them either!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Got Wheels? Let's Roll!

So Sunday is supposed to be may day off to be lazy, hang around the house, take a couple naps, go for walks, chase squirrels, and hopefully ride my motorbike with Him.  Much to my dismay we headed down to Lawrence Photo where I work, and Him starts moving showcases and all sorts of things around.  When the cart showed up I thought it was time for some fun because I like to ride around on it.  Unfortunately all Him did was load it up with a bunch of papers and stuff from the cases Him was moving.  I even had to give up my riding spot.  Oh well Christmas is coming and I know Him and me has to work extra hours this time of year.

A Great Solution

So, this is the perfect shopping solution for a someone like me that rides a motorbike and does not like to be left outside waiting on Him.  It's a good thing that the folks at Ace like me as much as I like them!

Elliott da Kat

Most of the time Elliott is pretty cool although he does try to eat my food and want to be in Him's lap and I don't always like that very much.

Leaves, Leaves, Leaves

Ok, so it was cold this morning on my walk but the leaves were sparkly with frost.
So who wants to rake these up
into a great big pile and let me
jump into them?

Sparkly leaves.

The Best Laid Plans . . .

33 Years Worth of Gunk
So after the walk about the park on Sunday I was already to ride out to Lake Afton.  We got as far as Southwest Boulevard and West Street when the clutch started acting up again and so had to limp back to a garage with tools.  The rest of the afternoon was spent watching Him try to get to the clutch and then clean out what appeared to be 33 years worth of grime, gunk, dirt and what not that was impeding the clutch and actuation. It takes some dedication and little bit of labor to ride a vintage bike.
Part way done.

Hurry Up Already
Where's the pizza?

Ok you can hold me and keep me warm.

All tuckered out.

Sunday Morning Hike About

Sunday morning was beautiful and just right for a nice long walk through the park.  There were lots of squirrels out making preparation for winter which is certainly on the way as heralded by the beautiful fall colors we saw.  Little did I know that Him had in mind a nice long hike but knew that we were in for something other than a quick "let's do our business walk around a couple blocks when we neared Park Villa.  While him was getting ready to take a quick pic one of my favorite humans pulled up and it was Kristy and John so I had to jump into their car and say hey!  I liked the tree house and think I need one of these so I would have a better chance of catching me one of them squirrels.  All in all we went on a 2.44 mile hike about and with my shorter legs I bet that is like 15.82 miles compared to human strides.

Lucy Loves Treats

Lucy loves treats...she loves them so much she has a nick name of Food Thief.  Sometimes when I am at her house and I get a treat but am not ready to eat it just yet I will go hide it.  And she finds it.  The last time I burried underneath the ground and you know what?  Just like a pig huntin' truffles she found it and ate it up in one gulp.  It's ok.  I like her a lot and she does not always snap at me when I get in her humans lap.  Not always anyway.  I am making progress.

Elliott da Kat

Surely at some point I have mentioned that there is a kat at the house that lives with me and Him.  Just because he was there before me make that kat think he is da boss.  Course that kat is wrong about that but let the kat think what the kat wants to think. Kinda like politiks where you say one thing and do another...

Anyway the kat is pretty nice most the time and is easily amused.  Him got in a new helmet the other day and the kat likes the shipping box the best and has staked it out as his own private domain.  His version of Occupy da Box.

Veterans Day 11/11/11

Thank a veteran

Thank a Veteran.
Veterans Day, formerly Armistice Day, is an annual United States holiday honoring military veterans.   It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11th.  It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day or Rememberence Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended WW I.   Major hostilities of WWI were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.

The holiday is commonly printed as Veteran’s Day or Veterans’ Day in calendars and advertising.  While these spellings are grammatically acceptable, the US government has declared the the attributive (no apostrophe) rather than the possessive case is the official spelling.

Have you ever seen starlings in flight like this? Although I've not seen it over water it is very dramatic.

The Funeral

A man was leaving a convenience store with his morning coffee when he noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about 50 Feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking single file.

The man couldn't stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the man walking the dog and said:
"I am so sorry for your loss, and this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?"

"My wife's."

''What happened to her?"

"She yelled at me and my dog attacked and killed her."

He inquired further, "But who is in the second hearse?"

The man answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to help my wife when the dog turned on her."

A very poignant and touching moment of brotherhood and silence passed between the two men.

"Can I borrow the dog?"

The man replied, "Get in line."

I felt it ... did you?

Did you feel it?  On Saturday night we were hanging out in a friends basement watching a movie when suddenly a mirror propped up against a wall started rattling like a heavy truck or train was passing...but that was not the case it was an earthquake with the epicenter  just northeast of Oklahoma City.  Associated Press: OK Earthquake Video

Soup Night

Although I've not been allowed in...yet I hear there is some great food and folk here at Tanya's Soup Kitchen.  If you are downtown or craving some fine hearty fare this is a great place to go Him sez.  psst - I have heard Him remark more than once that the Chicken Curry is Him's favorite.

Autumn Blaze

This is one of my favorite trees along the river to take care of bidness. In my humble opinion I might have something to do with the intense autumn color. Just sayin'.

It Is My Nature . . .

I got in trouble.  I got in trouble bad.

You see, my boys and I were hanging out working on Him's bike changing the oil and luberkatin' the clutch cable and eatin' a little pizza.  Him was a bit on the challenged side since the oil filter cover somehow skrunched up the gasket and did not keep all the oil inside the motorbike.  After a few choice words and a skint knuckle and bandaid everything was sealed up tight and nice again.

I was getting a bit bored with the goings on in the garage and noticed an orange tabby kat out in Ryan & Lucy's front yard.  It was dark and her evil orange glowing eyes needed to not be tresspassin.  I took off to get her to move on along.  Lucy decided it was a race and down the driveway we went, hell bent for to kitty kat tail.

Him started shouting and a hollerin something fierce and although I heard Him I could not slow down.  So down the driveway, down the yard and then across the street we went.  Race ON!  By the time Him caught up with me that darn kat was gone gone gone.

Needless to say I got in trouble.  Scolded even.  Got set up on a table that was too far down for me to jump and made to sit there in time out and Him not even looking at me. Thought I might get a whoopin but Him knows it was just my nature... I like kats and even let one live at the house with Him and me.  But this evil orange kat was not where she shoulda been.

The Scorpion & The Frog

The Scorpion and the Frog is a fable about a scorpion asking a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung during the trip, but the scorpion argues that if it stung the frog, the frog would sink and the scorpion would drown. The frog agrees and begins carrying the scorpion, but midway across the river the scorpion does indeed sting the frog, dooming them both. When asked why, the scorpion points out that this is its nature. The fable is used to illustrate the position that the behaviour of some creatures is irrepressible, no matter how they are treated and no matter what the consequences.
Variations commonly include a farmer, youth, turtle, or fox in place of the frog, and a snake in place of the scorpion. The Farmer and the Viper is a specific variant that can be attributed to Aesop. There is also a variation in which the final words of the scorpion are "It is better we should both perish than that my enemy should live."

TOWANDA!

During our morning errands we pulled up along side a school bus full of bright eyed grade schoolers from Circle Elementary.  They all smiled and waved at us so I wagged back at 'em.  It would have been a perfect morning had the clutch cable at that precise time started sticking.  Him was not happy.
