Little Utes

These little Utes came into the store today because their proud Grandpa wanted me to meet them.  I liked them alot and hope they come back to Kansas to visit more often.

8mm

Well Him got a phone call a couple days ago and the lady on the phone said, "I know this is going to sound like an odd question, but do you have an old dog down there at Lawrence Photo?"  Him said, "There is not an old dog down here, but there is a younger dog that works down here named Tag."  To which she replied "then you must be the place.  You see, you did an 8mm film to DVD Transfer for a friend of my sister's and she said you guys did a fantastic job and I wanted to make sure I went to the right place."  Him sez that  maybe I earned my keep this week....

Rita Treats

I love this time of year ... especially as long as all the treats and goodies are around.  This year I got a bag full of Rita Treats from a very special lady.  Him also got a bag of treats and Him seemed to like those but these were for ME!

Who you callin' little?

I know Him sez my daddy was a chihuahua, but I know my daddy was a great dane just like the one that wanted to come inside the store today.  Fear not...I was able to thwart the massive pooch away by throwing my body against the glass, baring my teeth and vocalizing my disdain for his very existence in the immediate vicinity of my domain.  Him sez I should learn some manners but I think I was within my rights.

Crossing the Plains

A whole lot of windshield time to Southwestern Kansas.
I had a great weekend out in the far southwestern corner of the civilized world for the Christmas holiday.  Him and me took off after closing the store on Christmas Eve and got to our destination just after 7:00.  I was soooo happy to see Him's folks cause they might spoil me a bit.  See there was ham and pie waiting for us when we got there and don't tell anyone but I do like a good piece o ham.  The next day Him's sister got there and we had a whole lot of fun and then there was TURKEY and some gravey that maybe I got some of when no one was looking.  I do love my aunt Sam.
Have bed will travel
Look at all those presents and none for me....

Ho Ho Ho!

Merry Christmas!  So this is what is meant by a White Christmas.  It was a beautiful sunrise but to be real honest I would like snow a whole lot more if it were not so blasted cold.  That's why I finally just curled up on one of my favorite laps for a much needed Christmas nap.

'tis the season!

I can always tell when he is up to something and today was the day.... I heard him fiddling around back in the studio setting up lighting and what not so I tried to ignore all that and get caught up on my snoozing (there's nothing quite like taking a nap when it is raining outside.)  Guess that did not work though and sure enough he found me took my collar off me (usually that means a  B A T H which I don't like at all so I was prewarned that something was about to happen.  Sure enough he sets my butt down on the studio table next to some purty Christmas decorations and the flash started poppin.  I have learned to close my eyes and to turn my head cause I've been down this road before.  Well looks like he got what he wanted for our Christmas card so maybe that will be it for the studio photos for this year.

Rednecks and Their Horse - Patches

Ok, these good ol' boys have quite a horse ... atleast I think it is a horse and not a couple guys in a horse suit.  But can Patches ride a motorcycle?  I know it's been a while since I have posted anything but I've been real busy at work helping Santa and his elves that stop by for holiday & Christmas gifts for their loved ones (and sometimes even for themselves I do believe.) But I had to take a quick break and pass this along.

Catz are weird

Catz are weird.  There I said it.  They play with their food before eating it.  Sometimes they just sit around showing it off to any ol' passerby that will take notice.  This cat ain't afraid of nuthin.  Me and him walk past it several times a week and all it does is sit there and watch us.  I would chase it if Him would let me.  I bet I could catch it or atleast give it a good run for the money.  This pic was taken with Him's camera phone.  So it's not the best photo.  I am going to post some pictures maybe later today that show the difference between using what you've got when the moment is at hand and using a better tool.

I am re-blogging this from a friend of mine who posted this yesterday..."Brian DeFrees spent two months between August and October of this year driving a giant loop around the United States on a 12,225 mile long road trip.  He captured a photo every 5 seconds using an intervalometer with his Canon 60D while in his car and by creating individual time-lapse videos when parked or exploring an area.  The result is this epic 5 minute long time lapse."

Way to go! I like seeing the clouds and the rain.
ps.  all the equipment used is available at Lawrence Photo.  (hint hint!)

Free Kitty!

Him found this on that website called FaceBook.  I thought it was funny.  Good thing that for the most part we do not have an issue with ill behaved children.  We have the best customers in the world at Lawrence Photo!  After all, aren't you one of them?

Better Watch Out!

I was on a walk the other night and Him snapped this photo of the weather vane against the sunset with a tiny sliver of moon showing.

Better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why...
Santa Clause is coming to town!

Weight Loss Incentive

I saw these refrigerators that were from a "Scary" art show and think that Jenny Craig and other diet gurus might want to incorporate these into their programs...after all "I don't need ice cream that bad...I ain't going no where near that refrigerator!"

Tank "Turned" Art

Sunday mornings are our day to sleep an hour later and get up, watch CBS Sunday Morning and let him drink coffee.  This last Sunday there was a segment on the Biennale in Venice.  This tank turned over caught Him's attention at the US Pavillion.  Take a look.

Here is a link to the CBS Sunday Morning Story Treadmill Powered Tank. Here is an article from The Guardian Guardian's Tank Article.

Black Friday

Well it is that time of year again and we are gearing up for the holiday shoppers down here at Lawrence Photo.

Him joked about opening up at noon on Thanksgiving Day to get a jump on all the ridiculousness of the retailers who think that they will sell more stuff to an over consumption society by opening at 4:00 a.m or midnight or 9:00 p.m. of what is supposed to be a holiday by itself.

Turkey Turkey! Pig Pig

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day and got to spend it with loved ones or at least tolerated friends and family.  I had a great day hanging out with Him who cooked up a storm in the kitchen and then shared some of the feast with me.

Later in the day we went for a bike ride and stopped by and saw some good friends and I got some special lap time!

It's Getting To Be That Time!

I gotta job and I got to do my part being the promotions and PR manager
at Lawrence Photo here in Wichita, KS so....

It is time to get your holiday cards ordered  so you can get them into the mail.  Don't do like Him does and get them printed but forget to mail them either!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Got Wheels? Let's Roll!

So Sunday is supposed to be may day off to be lazy, hang around the house, take a couple naps, go for walks, chase squirrels, and hopefully ride my motorbike with Him.  Much to my dismay we headed down to Lawrence Photo where I work, and Him starts moving showcases and all sorts of things around.  When the cart showed up I thought it was time for some fun because I like to ride around on it.  Unfortunately all Him did was load it up with a bunch of papers and stuff from the cases Him was moving.  I even had to give up my riding spot.  Oh well Christmas is coming and I know Him and me has to work extra hours this time of year.

A Great Solution

So, this is the perfect shopping solution for a someone like me that rides a motorbike and does not like to be left outside waiting on Him.  It's a good thing that the folks at Ace like me as much as I like them!

Most of the time Elliott is pretty cool although he does try to eat my food and want to be in Him's lap and I don't always like that very much.

Ok, so it was cold this morning on my walk but the leaves were sparkly with frost.
So who wants to rake these up
into a great big pile and let me

Sparkly leaves.

The Best Laid Plans . . .

33 Years Worth of Gunk
So after the walk about the park on Sunday I was already to ride out to Lake Afton.  We got as far as Southwest Boulevard and West Street when the clutch started acting up again and so had to limp back to a garage with tools.  The rest of the afternoon was spent watching Him try to get to the clutch and then clean out what appeared to be 33 years worth of grime, gunk, dirt and what not that was impeding the clutch and actuation. It takes some dedication and little bit of labor to ride a vintage bike.
Part way done.

Hurry Up Already
Where's the pizza?

Ok you can hold me and keep me warm.

All tuckered out.

Sunday Morning Hike About

Sunday morning was beautiful and just right for a nice long walk through the park.  There were lots of squirrels out making preparation for winter which is certainly on the way as heralded by the beautiful fall colors we saw.  Little did I know that Him had in mind a nice long hike but knew that we were in for something other than a quick "let's do our business walk around a couple blocks when we neared Park Villa.  While him was getting ready to take a quick pic one of my favorite humans pulled up and it was Kristy and John so I had to jump into their car and say hey!  I liked the tree house and think I need one of these so I would have a better chance of catching me one of them squirrels.  All in all we went on a 2.44 mile hike about and with my shorter legs I bet that is like 15.82 miles compared to human strides.

Lucy Loves Treats

Lucy loves treats...she loves them so much she has a nick name of Food Thief.  Sometimes when I am at her house and I get a treat but am not ready to eat it just yet I will go hide it.  And she finds it.  The last time I burried underneath the ground and you know what?  Just like a pig huntin' truffles she found it and ate it up in one gulp.  It's ok.  I like her a lot and she does not always snap at me when I get in her humans lap.  Not always anyway.  I am making progress.

Elliott da Kat

Surely at some point I have mentioned that there is a kat at the house that lives with me and Him.  Just because he was there before me make that kat think he is da boss.  Course that kat is wrong about that but let the kat think what the kat wants to think. Kinda like politiks where you say one thing and do another...

Anyway the kat is pretty nice most the time and is easily amused.  Him got in a new helmet the other day and the kat likes the shipping box the best and has staked it out as his own private domain.  His version of Occupy da Box.

Veterans Day 11/11/11

Thank a veteran

Thank a Veteran.
Veterans Day, formerly Armistice Day, is an annual United States holiday honoring military veterans.   It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11th.  It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day or Rememberence Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended WW I.   Major hostilities of WWI were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.

The holiday is commonly printed as Veteran’s Day or Veterans’ Day in calendars and advertising.  While these spellings are grammatically acceptable, the US government has declared the the attributive (no apostrophe) rather than the possessive case is the official spelling.

The Funeral

A man was leaving a convenience store with his morning coffee when he noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about 50 Feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking single file.

The man couldn't stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the man walking the dog and said:
"I am so sorry for your loss, and this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?"

"My wife's."

''What happened to her?"

"She yelled at me and my dog attacked and killed her."

He inquired further, "But who is in the second hearse?"

The man answered, "My mother-in-law. She was trying to help my wife when the dog turned on her."

A very poignant and touching moment of brotherhood and silence passed between the two men.

"Can I borrow the dog?"

The man replied, "Get in line."

I felt it ... did you?

Did you feel it?  On Saturday night we were hanging out in a friends basement watching a movie when suddenly a mirror propped up against a wall started rattling like a heavy truck or train was passing...but that was not the case it was an earthquake with the epicenter  just northeast of Oklahoma City.  Associated Press: OK Earthquake Video

Soup Night

Although I've not been allowed in...yet I hear there is some great food and folk here at Tanya's Soup Kitchen.  If you are downtown or craving some fine hearty fare this is a great place to go Him sez.  psst - I have heard Him remark more than once that the Chicken Curry is Him's favorite.
