Before the Apple ...

A friend posted this way cool video/commercial today on his blog and it got me to thinking and remembering What came before the apple as show in the following video:
The earliest "cool" photos I remember were usually in the LIFE magazine and I know that I studied this one for extended amounts of time.

In 1937 Harold Edgerton began a lifelong association with photographer Gjon Mili who used stroboscopic quipment, in particular, multiple studio electronic flash units to produce strikingly beautiful photographs, many of which appeared in Life Magazine.  When taking multiflash photos this stobe light equipment could flash up to 120 times per second.  Edgerton was a pioneer in using short duration electronic flash in photographing fast event photography, subsequently using the technique to capture images of balloons at different stages of their bursting, a bullet during its impact with an apple, or using multiflash to track motion.....

1970's Muscle

AMC Javelin.  Him loved these cars as a kid and thought they were super cool.  We have seen this one for the past couple of days parked out on the street and last night a couple guys had the hood popped on it with a tool box nearby.  There is an old Kansas tag on it where the county designation is indicated by a two letter code one letter above the other.

Fire Trucks Abound

This morning we heard sirens like crazy a little after 10:00.  Him noticed that there were flashing lights reflecting in the windows and went to investigate.  Sure 'nuf there were fire trucks lined up on the east and west sides of the building with smoke billowing out of the alleyway.  It seems a car on the 3rd level on the parking garage behind our building was on fire.  I am a big fan of the fire department for their devotion to  job, safety and protection.  These are some of our greatest heroes.  The photo was taken from just outside our front door at Lawrence Photo.

Hudson: Then & Now

A classic view in black and white of a car not seen much anymore.
I wish I could figure out why the gif files don't play on here very well.
What a difference a little color makes.

Crossing the Plains

A whole lot of windshield time to Southwestern Kansas.
I had a great weekend out in the far southwestern corner of the civilized world for the Christmas holiday.  Him and me took off after closing the store on Christmas Eve and got to our destination just after 7:00.  I was soooo happy to see Him's folks cause they might spoil me a bit.  See there was ham and pie waiting for us when we got there and don't tell anyone but I do like a good piece o ham.  The next day Him's sister got there and we had a whole lot of fun and then there was TURKEY and some gravey that maybe I got some of when no one was looking.  I do love my aunt Sam.
Have bed will travel
Look at all those presents and none for me....
Pose in the snow Him said....

Sometimes I like the observation platform the best.
