Well Him and our friend Lee Shiney came up with an idea about having a gallery on the corner of Douglas and Topeka that is our main display window at Lawrence Photo. This gallery initially was conceived as the "Drive By" Gallery but that name was nixed because of the less than friendly implications. Him and Lee joked around about calling the "RedLight Gallery but for obvious reasons decided StopLight Gallery was more family oriented.
Below is the announcement Lee sent out about the new gallery space earlier today. Him will get around to something official in the next day or so.
January: Wow. Big. Ups and downs.
Working backwards-Final Friday: Today is Final Friday in Wichita, and I have brand new work in a brand new gallery. This giant untitled piece (shown here under construction) is 6 x 10 feet, latex paint on unprimed, unframed canvas. And it's showing in a fun, new little gallery space that is actually part of Lawrence Photo at 401 E Douglas. Even more fun is that this gallery is "open" 24 hours a day, because it's viewable only from outdoors. So as you are cruising through the stoplight at Douglas and Topeka, look to the southeast corner. It's the Stoplight Gallery.
Last week; down: A major server issue took out my website. It's still gone, so don't bother looking yet. I'm trying to treat this as an opportunity, rather than a catastrophe.
Last week; up: But I did finish two collaborative works for the Art for Arthritis benefit coming up in March. You'll get a sneak peek when they go on display for Final Friday in February.
Drive by!
