Him's been rambling again and this time it is about how books are disappearing ....going the way of the DoDo Bird
What is a DoDo Bird? Exactly! And that's Him's point.
You see it has been announce the Encyclopedia Britannica is going to discontinue the print publication of their 244 year old reference set. Him remembers as a kid spending hours on end thumbing through the World Book Encyclopedia set that his parents got second hand - all except the missing volume which was "H" which became problematic when wanting to look up horse, horticulture or Honduras and to this day Him sez that his knowledge is lacking in the H category.
"After nearly 250 years, the 32 volume Encyclopaedia Britannica print set will be discontinued.
Encyclopaedia Britannica is going completely digital. The 2010 print set will be the final edition and is available at The Britannica Store only while supplies last! Dont' miss this final opportunity to own one of the most important printed reference collections of all time.
Supplies are limited; get yours before it is too late!"
$1395.
Yes yes yes, Him knows that all this information is available on the internet (and that is way cool too) but there is nothing like sitting down and thumbing through an encyclopedia whether a current publication or one that is 60 years old....and that is Him's point. It is that lack of reference to what was once held true...it is as though fact and history are updateable or if you will erasable.
